I think these developments as a whole is going to take the metro area to another level.
The tourism here is going to be out of control soon once these projects open. I know new hotels are going to be needed around O4W and BA development. The area around 75/575 will be expecting over 8 million new visitors by 2014. Someone posted a thread about all the projects that were canceled. They will also complement each other. I'm sure the people visiting the sports complex will go shopping at the new outlet and they will probably want to go downtown to visit those attractions. These projects here are better than those projects imo. The Atl haters in other cities and countries that post in our forum are going to be mad

Lakepoint Sports Complex ($1 billion, 1,200 acre development) 2014

The Outlet Shoppes of Atlanta (370,000 square-foot development) 2013

Avalon (Atlantic Station North) 2014

Buckhead Atlanta (2014)

Ponce City Market (2014)

Krog St Market (2013)

College Football HOF (2014)

Civil Rights Museum (2014)

Emory Point (2013)

Porsche Development (2013)

If all of these occur, and successfully start, yes, it will be a set of great additions.

I was trying to keep of track of these in this thread:
Status of major re-developments

Let us not count chickens before they hatch. Some of these show little progress. Some are just concepts. Instead of arguing pro/con in this thread, better to re-visit this thread in 6 months.

edit/add: I think the top 4 by cost (in alphabetical order) would be: Avalon, Buckhead Atlanta, Lakepoint, Ponce City Mkt???

College Football HOF is slated for a 2014 opening or 2014 construction?

January groundbreaking for Atlanta's College Football Hall of Fame | Reuters

Yep.

"Groundbreaking for a new College Football Hall of Fame in downtown Atlanta is set for January 28, and the first visitors are expected to walk through the doors in August 2014, the National Football Foundation said on Monday."

Construction will start at the end of this month. You should see a gate around that parking lot in a few weeks. You probably will not see real construction until this summer but first phase of the construction process will begin soon. Both museums should open around the same time in 2014

Especially in Buckhead and up 75. You know how bad traffic is in Buckhead now just wait until BA opens lol. 75 is probably worse. Yesterday traffic was backed up from 575 all the way to West Paces Ferry. Imagine how it will be when 8 million people annually travel in that area annually each year lol. They are expecting over 4 million people each annually at Lakepoint and the Outlet
