Have you been to Vegas or Japan? Should we get rid of strip clubs and pawn shops too?

How are they being " dragged" if they choose to do it?

So we should keep it illegal and leave the girls to the violent pimps, rapes, murders, drug addition, the threat of going to jail and stds because they basically have no legal protection all because minimum wage jobs suck? That doesn't make any sense and doesn't even seem like a equal trade and who said prostitution would be a minim wage job with no benefits and cheated hours? Your argument is that because some people are being mistreated in the work force then legal prostitution would not make the practice safer. That is absurd.

You think these issues would be better if they made it illegal? Aside from the fact that it is voluntary and these girls CHOOSE to go into it if you make it illegal you open it up to murder and sex slavery which is already happening now in prostitution because if these girls leave and tell the police they risk getting put in jail.

Lets not even mention the very successful porn stars who have created mini empires of the industry and done very well for themselves. You can't get that in prostitution because they would be locked up.

When they crack down in one area, it moves to the next. Atlanta has apparently unofficially decided to ''tolerate" these activities in the area around Fulton Industrial due to the fact that it is relatively well removed from housing and the city.

Now, my guess is that if there were interest in revitalizing the Metropolitan Av corridor, the city would put some effort into cleaning it up. But right now, people don't care. If they cracked down there, it will likely move somewhere else. My guess is that it will be left alone until there is interest in investing in the area.

I for one wish they would crack down on the westside of downtown, English Av, AUC, the Bluffs, etc. That area is a NATURAL for revitalization. Yes, they go in and crack down, and then drugs and prostitution moves or consolidates somewhere else. It won't go away. But the fact is that that area of town has boatloads of potential. It is worth the effort.

Long story short, these activities are going to happen. The city has to has chosen to tolerate it in certain areas to attempt to contain it. Metropolitan is apparently one of those areas.
awww look at what I found....very interesting and ironic.

The last time I went up Metropolitan (about a month ago) I saw a sign saying that the new Zone 3 precinct would be just north of Perkerson.

That's been there for at least 2 years

Really? next to a sign that says "how would you like to work next to 300 police officers?" or something?

That sucks. I noticed it for the first time on that drive.

Yeah, I noticed that sign years ago. I have always assumed that was going to be some mixed income housing project going in and the city was going to get some space to offer free or cheap housing to cops.

It is sad, they should take it down rather than leave it up to fade away.
