We are considering going to the NFC championship on Sunday, and the last flight to SFO is at 9:55pm. The game starts at 3, so it should be over by 7 - which gives us 3 hours to get to the airport. What is it like leaving the stadium to get to the airport? Here in San Francisco, Candlestick Park is a nightmare to get out of. What are my options? Is there available cabs? How about MARTA? Thanks for your advice!

MARTA is your best bet. Extra trains will be running every 5-7 minutes to get fans from the Dome. Its a 20 minute ride from Five Points to Airport station. MARTA - Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority. Where will your luggage be?

Traffic will suck. MARTA is probably your best bet. If the Dome station is packed you can walk the ~3/4 a mile to Five points or Peachtree Center since you would have to change trains there anyways. South bound trains should not be too packed compared to northbound. And it will take you straight into the terminal.

You'll be able to get to the airport easily by MARTA in that timeframe. You'll even have time to grab a beer downtown after the game to drown your sorrows.

Thats pushing it close, why not stay the night here? Also Marta generally runs less frequent on the weekends and especially Sunday. So a trip on Marta from the Dome to airport will probably take 30-45 mins....then factor in leaving the game, and airport security.

But I just had a thought, Marta will be running more frequent on Sunday because of the Game so the E/W line shouldn't be a problem!! And the N/S line is always better imo

Marta .. Hands down is your best bet.

Q: Are you just flying for the day?

- If not .. will you have a carry-on?? They don't allow much in the Dome. So you should plan for a hotel near the Dome that can hold your bag at the desk for you to pick up on the way to the airport (Plan some extra time for that.)

WOW - y'all are AWESOME on the Atlanta board.....it takes days to get replies from our San Jose board.

No worries on bags, we won't have any, and MARTA will definitely what we will do.......Go Niners!!!

Also when you Fly-in When you get your BreezeCard (Marta Fare Card) Pre-load it enought trips so you dont need to add fare at the Dome to get to the Airport after the game.

The line for that will be a mile long sometimes.
