The Atlanta Journal-Constitution Mobile software firm AirWatch announced it is adding 800 new jobs at its Sandy Springs headquarters in the next two years.Company chairman Alan Dabbiere said the company has already begun hiring as it expands its footprint in Atlanta. The firm already has about 650 employees here, and is seeking software developers and engineers to meet its demand.“This is a huge opportunity and we’re so proud to do it in Georgia,” he said .”And we probably couldn’t do it anywhere else but Georgia.”Gov. Nathan Deal said the company’s growth is a signal that tax breaks and other incentives aimed at boosting businesses in Georgia are working.
“All of these are now coming together, and this is exhibit A,” he said. The company, launched in 2003, has nearly 1,000 employees worldwide and about 600 of them are in Atlanta. The firm’s developers create and maintain mobile apps for businesses, and the software can track how employees use their own devices to access company data. The growth of apps is fueling a niche technology market in Atlanta that city and state officials are trying to exploit. A 2012 study shows Georgia has about 24,000 jobs tied to the mobile app industry, and many of those companies are local startups that offer high-paying jobs.

I saw this article in the AJC the other day about many smartphone apps, including AirWatch that are based in Atlanta and creating many new jobs. I think the smartphones apps industry will be like the dot com of the late 90's.

The top positions we are looking for right now are for either: C++ developers focusing on Windows Mobile, QA testers, language translators for Swedish, Danish, Finnish, or Polish, a PR specialist, experienced salespeople, and a lead generation specialist focusing on Latin America that speaks Spanish or Portuguese. Feel free to pm me if you fit any of those roles.

I have a college degree, but it isn't in IT or Computer Science. If I were to learn C++, do you think I would have more of a chance?
