I never said anything about the law building. I LIKE the law building. I'm HAPPY about the law building. I wish the law building was built sooner(instead of Piedmont North). I was referring to GSU allowing private development literally on campus allowing free tanning beds. By the way, you probably don't know this but that parking spot was one of the cheapest places to park on campus. Oh well, I guess GSU can keep charging us hundreds dollars to park each semester. GSU is partnering with that company much like Westmar. It's a joke. A complete joke. I bet they're going to be super expensive too.

Fastest growing university? Nice race to the bottom. Quantity does not equal quality. It's all about the money now. Keep telling yourself everything is going great. Keep doing it GSU. Let Southern and KSU surpass us. GRU is already giddying on it's way past. Keep scaring away the high achieving students.

I'm not going to derail this thread like all the other threads. My opinion is my opinion. It won't change unless facts change.
You obviously don't have the mental capacity to recognize the difference between fact and fiction. So please entertain me, how have Southern and Kennesaw surpassed us? Both of those institutions are what's called "Regional Universities". Georgia State is a "Research University" which is considered a higher level: USG Institutions - University System of Georgia. That little link I provided will lead you to FACTUAL information on the university hierarchy in this state. Pretty soon you will be spewing fantasies about how Chattahoochee Tech is on the rise and will surpass us. Anyway, carry on....

Great news, for law students who need to research. Hopefully the Law library will be designated as one to get the most relevant and up to date legal information. If a GSU review as a secondary source could come out of this, that would be wonderful.

Amen to that. The fewer of those things downtown, the better.

Anyone know what the future of the law building will be once the law school leaves? Will they tear it down, or will another department move in to take its place?

Another department will move in..probably administration. There is no 'law' building. There's the urban life building. It's an awful place. Very poorly built. I can see why the law school wanted out. It looks a lot like an office condo with a library than a law school. Thank god for the new building. Urban life will probably be used for classes. GSU only cares about money now. They'll keep increasing enrollment and utilize that space. Urban Life is connected to the university center(basically the real student center)

Would be nice if they opened some food places in urban life. That courtyard could be an alternative from the plaza those of us who aren't drunk and high by 12 pm.

Here's what I think we could do with urban life:
Upper levels could be for administration...pretty much how it is now. The classroom area could just be used for classes. The baren, dark courtyards and hallways could be lit up by adding a coffee shop there. The library could be the real library south..since library south is actually library north just with another name to make it sound like GSU has "TWO" main libraries.

Maybe they could add a gameroom there for recreation. The one in the rec center is pretty small. Adding a computer lab would be the biggest blessing to anyone that has to step on campus at georgia state.

Nifty. I like it.

Surface lots have no business being in a downtown core.

That's a gorgeous building! A big win for the GSU law school and for downtown.

Law school enrollment is dropping (as it should) since law schools have finally caught on to the fact that the legal market is completely and utterly saturated. It's a combination of factors - but much of it has to do with schools shrinking their classes. Be that as it may, the fact is that GSU Law, as a relatively young law school, has done a phenomenal job of competing with the more mature law schools at UGA and Emory. It's competitive with, and sometimes beats, those schools' bar pass rates, has similarly qualified students vying for spots at the school and is just as good, if not better, at placing grads in coveted spots in the area's top law firms. It has also steadily increased in US News & World Reports rankings. I'm happy for the school and its students and faculty - new facilities are just what the school needs to continue its trajectory.
