WSBTv reported tonight that a woman was robbed earlier at gunpoint on the Beltline near Monroe. So please take extreme caution if using the Beltline.

FYI

Why can't we have something cool like the Beltline without this sort of thing going on? Shame on these sorry thieves.

It was actually on Monroe NEAR to the Beltline but on that basis its also NEAR to Trader Joes.

These thieves are getting more carefree by the day...time for some police stings.

The media doesn't realize (or maybe it does?) how references to places like the Beltline, MARTA, Underground, etc. when reporting locations from crime create a negative perception of those places. It's been happening with MARTA and Underground for years, when often times the crime blocks away. It's detrimental to such places when the public perception is already a little shaky. I wish they would stop doing it before they paint the Beltline in a similar light.

Exactly. Its because the media doesn't use/visit these place outside of reporting.

They do it on purpose. Last time they said someone got robbed on the Beltline they weren't actually on it. You could get shot driving by a bus stop and they would say it happened on the bus.

It truly boils down to dishonest reporting in an attempt at sensationalism. It's despicable.
