I know there are positive singers. I'm just saying that artists who tend to broadcast a negative message are themselves at least partially responsible for the consequences that type of message brings.

I normally do, and I try to treat the voice as an instrument. One of the reasons I like listening to stuff like polychoral church music in Latin. I can't understand it!

Of course, the impact of the words varies tremendously by artist ... sometimes the message is at least as good as the musical quality of the delivery, and sometimes the lyrics really do enhance ... or make ... a song.

Conversely, sometimes the lyrics ruin an otherwise good piece. At least for me. YMMV.
