Silver lining: Cloud computing company to add 900 new jobs

Bright future: John Hallett and David Northington of Cloud Sherpas, which helps large companies switch from standard to cloud-based software.

An Atlanta-based software company plans to add about 900 jobs, as Corporate America reaches for the “cloud.”
Cloud Sherpas helps large companies switch from software installed on employee computers and corporate servers, to workforce applications such as Google Apps or Salesforce.com that are delivered and managed via the Internet.
Businesses are gravitating toward cloud-based applications, which cost less, and are easier to implement and upgrade than licensed software.
Businesses will spend $677 billion on public cloud services in the next five years, according to Gartner Research. Cloud services sector revenue is expected to grow about 18 percent between 2011 and 2016.
As demand for cloud services soars, Cloud Sherpas expects revenues to double this year. To keep pace with growth, the five-year-old company plans to add about 300 jobs in Atlanta by the end of 2014. Also, Cloud Sherpas will seek more than 37,000 square feet of office space, most likely in Central Buckhead, later this year.
Cloud Sherpas focuses on three platforms — messaging and collaboration; customer relationship management; and IT service management. The company primarily targets large enterprises — businesses with at least $1 billion in sales — in the commercial real estate, manufacturing, retail, financial services and pharma sectors.
“These are sectors that have embraced the cloud earliest and in the most significant way,” Cloud Sherpas CEO David Northington said.
Cloud Sherpas advises companies on which cloud applications to choose. It sets up and manages the software, even trains the customers’ employees. Cloud Sherpas also develops software that customizes the cloud software to the client’s needs.

I dont think all these jobs are in Atlanta, and the i crease is over years. The details are in the paid content, I believe.

To get an idea, here is some info about the company:
Cloud Sherpas funding, acquisition points to hot SaaS market
The company has 350 employees at offices in Atlanta, Brisbane, Chicago, Manila, New York, San Francisco, San Diego, Sydney and Wellington.

We must have had at least 5000 tech jobs announced in January. Amazing. I can only wonder how many jobs will be created in other fields because of this. I think the types of jobs being announced here proves that our population growth is high in quality and quantity. At this rate we'll be number one for job and population growth this year.

You're right. It says 300 by the end of next year. The company is based here though.

Even if it is a few hundred jobs for ATL, still good news. I have never heard of this company but that hiring growth is really rapid for the very competitive field of web hosting.
