I've been very happy with Liberty Mutual. I have no idea how prices compare.

The folks at King and Brim helped us for the 10 years we had our Sandy Springs home. They are independent agents who can shop for the best coverage and pricing...

I am now with State Farm at really good rates for home and car. I do NOT recommend Pointe North Insurance of Atlanta. They are a broker. I strongly urge you, whatever company you end up with, every year to call other insurance companies on your own and get new quotes. Do not rely on your current insurer, even if it is a "broker", to shop your rates for you from year to year. I was with Pointe North (via Grange Mutual Casualty CO. Insurance policies that PN obtained & managed for me) for car and home insurance for 10 YEARS. I have never filed a claim on either, EVER. Every year they raised the rates, and when I called to ask them to re-shop my policies to see if I could get a cheaper rate, every year they said they did shop around and that those rates were the best I could qualify for. They said it was because of a ticket on my record, or because of my credit score, or because I moved out of my house and had to drop my insurance because they would no longer insure it, though when I moved back in, I went with them again (!), or whatever else they could blame it on. They always made me feel like they were doing ME a favor by magically being able to get me car insurance at $170 a month. On a 2007 Kia Rondo! My car rate especially was terribly high, though I have only one ticket on my 3 year record, and it drops off in June and is not a super-speeder ticket. Well, I finally took time out to call a few insurance companies on my own instead of just taking their word for it. They all said that I was a great client to have and that they could get me much better rates. They were like "You have been with that company 10 years and filed no claims on either policy?! And your rate is what?!" I went with State Farm and am now saving over $1000 a year on my car insurance and $320 a year on the house insurance. I wish I had invested that time in myself sooner. I may have gotten a better rate elsewhere but I only had about an hour of time that day and that was cheaper enough so I just did it. I am always so busy and hate creating time for stuff like that. Never again! $1300 a year saved! If I had gotten quotes from other companies that were just a few hundred different on the car, that would have been one thing. But for me to easily get rates of close to and just above $1000 a year cheaper? That is a lot of money to me. Suck it, Pointe North Insurance Group. You won't ever have to "shop my rates" again. I hate that I was foolish enough to believe in them for 10 years without double checking. EVERY year you should call around and see what your rates could be elsewhere. I learned that from Clark Howard and I wish I had done it sooner. whew. Rant over.

I was with USAA for 15 years before I got smart and FIRED them. I didn't have a single claim and have excellent credit and no tickets yet the premium continued to rise...and rise significantly. I had heard good things about Amica, so gave 'em a call and have been with them for 3 years. Still no claims, but the interaction with them has been superb. You do need excellent credit and a good driving record for them to insure you, however.
