Hello everyone,

I know that there has been a lot of these "moving to Atlanta" threads, and I'm sorry to add to them. I am a mid 20's young professional looking to move to Atlanta. I have a job offer in Atlanta (30340) just south of Norcross, right off I-85 between I-285 and Jimmy Carter Blvd. Ideally, I would like to live near various social activities, night life, shopping and most of all not a long commute to and from my place of employment. I am willing to allocate $1100 dollars a month for rent. Is $1100 even realistic for a two bedroom in a nice area? I wouldn't mind living in the city. Any suggestions or recommendations on locations would be great and mostly appreciated!

Thanks in advance,
NOVA

That will be easy to find but you will not be living in the city. Try the Druid hills/85 area. You would have the reverse commute plus you will be 10 mins from downtown

North Druid Hills, actually... and yes, that is a good suggestion. Reverse commute, very convenient to other intown neighborhoods and within the OP's budget.

Thanks for the above suggestions! Are there anymore neighborhoods in the Atlanta area that I should take a look at? I would love to keep my options open.

I suggest the Dunwoody, Perimeter Mall area. This is also a reverse commute, and also close to shopping, restaurants, bars, and not too far from Buckhead.

What do you consider a long commute? The most urban and safe places in the city or near it like city of Decatur, proper, are more expensive than that for 2 bedrooms but you may find nearby neighborhoods that are becoming safer by the year that may be in that price range but all depends on your commute limits and definition of a "nice" neighborhood. The reserve commute concept worked for me while I lived in the city but worked in the suburbs, unless there were big events downtown that night. But if you insist on staying near your work I would also check out Tucker.
