They'll have to sell a lot of shoes to make back on that much investment.

Remember when there was a Niketown at Phipps?

If Nike comes back to Atlanta, maybe all hope isn't lost for the NHL

Nike has a small store at Lenox already. This would be much bigger.

Awesome!

Too bad I'm so cheap I avoid the 7% tax in favor of the 6% tax at other malls.

This is my favorite part from the 2012 article:

"The renovations to the nearly 1.6 million-square-foot Buckhead mall, anchored by stores including Macy’s and Neiman Marcus, will give it a more modern look and add more outdoor dining closer to Peachtree Road and to the existing food court.
The improvements will also create better connectivity for pedestrians and for the mall’s existing stores to Peachtree.
One feature included in the renovations is a new promenade linking Peachtree, Atlanta’s best-known street, to the front of the mall."

^It's 8%. Why I tend to do my big ticket shopping in the burbs (or more likely online). Still a good bit better than the 9.5% I've been seeing spending my weekdays in Seattle.

There's something odd there- at 23,000sf, $21 million would be almost $1,000/sf. It wouldn't cost anywhere near that to build a Nike store, even from the ground up.
