We put our house on the market looking for another place to raise our son but the homes in ny are very expensive, our mortgage now is about 3000 dollars and loking for another home our payment would be much more so I decided again to move to georgia. I am a nuruse(LPN) and my husband works in a nursing home. I am looking for a gooud county not to far from ATL and a good school district for my son who has special needs. Have a lot of reaserch to do. my husbands brother and sister live in clayton and its not the best. very confused on moving

Hi. I moved here from Westchester 14 years ago. Back then my property taxes were $7000 a yr... Lord knows what they are now on that house. I moved down here because the cost of living was much less and I thought it would be easier to raise my son here. I have bought several houses since I have been here... all of them in Cobb County. I would suggest that as a good place to start looking. There are hospitals and nursing homes in Cobb, so you can wind up with an easy commute.
My husband lived in Clayton Co. when I met him. He was very happy to have been able to sell his house and get out of there.
Your life will definitely be a lot easier down here, and you will save so much in housing alone that you can afford to fly up to NY often to visit.

You want to live in Cobb. Cobb has the best schools, good reasonable housing and low taxes and low crime. And, unlike other collar counties, a transit system with express bus service to the airport and downtown Atlanta.

I Miss NY and the Northeast totally
Native New Yorker moved to Cherokee County 2 years ago. We live in Bridglemill and love the award winning community golf, swim, tennis community, but hate the fact that the area is so rural and ther is no diversity. This community would have been perfect if it were closer to the city and had more diversity. The County is split have want somewhat city life the other half want to remain rural to hunt and fishwith no progression.
We are African American and there are over 2,500 homes in this subdivision and we have not one black, asian, latino neighbor. We are going to put our house up for sale. The only problem is, here it is hard to find a divese neighborhood with good school, an affordable nice diverse community, low crime shopping and eateries all in one. We considered Alpharetta, but that is not that diverse either. More than Cherokee though and closer to the city. it is just pricey
We lived in Teaneck, NJ which is a suburb of NYC ( 4 miles). The community had everyone. White, Black, Indian, Asian, Latino all in the same neighborhood. There was flaghip shopping not just the "Marts" and Target. Schools wee good and crime was low. Teaneck is considered the Bedroom to NYC.
The saving ggrace is that you can get som much more for your money here
We definitley feel out of place in Cherokee County and are looking to relocate somewhere else in the Atlanta Metro area, but where?

Try Gwinnett, that's the most diverse you'll ever get outside of Atlanta area!
