All things being equal... would you go back??? (Atlanta, Jersey: house prices, job market)

I have read ( and made) many comments on this forum regarding people's reasons for coming to and staying in Atlanta. Some enjoy it here, and some feel they could buy a better lifestyle here.
If the price of a house was the same here as where you moved from, would you have moved here in the first place? and, would you still be here?
For instance, you can buy a nice 4 BR house in Cobb county for under $300,000. Let's say you can get the same house for the same price in NY, NJ, Cal, Minn, or whereever you came from. Would you be here or there?

I, for one, would be in Westchester in NY.

If the house prices were the same, the property taxes were the same, and the attitudes about work were the same, I might consider going back to central NJ. While the housing and taxes played a part in our move, the biggest difference for me is the work attitude. Down here, we work normal hours, and people seem to respect "non-work" time spent with family, on hobbies, etc. Up in NJ is was always "gotta do more", and we'd work like idiots. When I leave the office here, my cell phone doesn't ring, and I rarely get emails after 6pm. In NJ, I'd get phone calls at 8pm, or emails at 10pm, and the next morning it was like "I called you last night, but you didn't pick up"- yeah, so???

I'll take the attitude down here over that crap any day.

I came here due to transfer, but if all things were equal and our NE office opened back up, I would be in S.Jersey.

I would move back to New England given all things equal. That or back to the Denver metro area.

NOPE!!! I would have moved here anyways. Milwaukee's job market is horrible, the home prices in the good neighborhoods are outragious, & I HATED going to work when the average temp from November to April is below 40 degrees!! The north can have those cold freezing winters....i can't stand them with a passion.

I didn't come here for a job or a man or a new lifestyle or cost of living
so all things being equal
no i would not go back to 6 ft of snow that lasts 5 months a year

If the price of a truly comparable home was the same up there, and if I could find comparable employment with a similar salary and benefits in the Twin Cities, then I'd be back there in a heartbeat.

I grew up there, and loved living up there, but more importantly I left a lot of friends and family up in that area.

I really do like the Atlanta area, though, and I suspect my wife doesn't share my desire to move back. If we had family down here, it'd be a much harder decision to make.
