Can't think of his name but he wrote a book or two as well as his column and I heard him speak too. One particularly poignant column was about how he reunited with his long absent father and about the only thing they had in common was love of growing things. he moved away from Atlanta to accommodate his wife I believe. I really would like to know what happened to him since he left. Anybody help me?

His name is Lee May. One of the books was "In My Father's Garden". He has this blog: Lee May's Gardening Life

If I recall he semi-retired. One of my favorite articles was one that he wrote about his love of the "Common" Red Leaf

I like Red Leafs as well so it always stuck with me. I also remember him writing about his cat(s)

I haven't lived in Atlanta for 12 years but I remember his writing garden columns. But they were always so much more than just about gardening. He was wonderful to read and I too enjoyed his writing.
