In a word MONEY. Well of course there's more but that's the first thing I would say. Peachtree is more of a upscale community. And very quiet.

Check out Peachtree City, GA - Official Website and Douglasville, GA - Official Website to get official city info on the 2 places. I think you'll find the main difference is that PTC is master-planned community created 45 years ago so is pretty "structured" in it's layout, where douglasville has a more "rural" feel. Also PTC seems to attract a lot of people because it's schools are rated among the highest in the state.

Peachtree City and Douglasville are like night and day. Douglasville is primarily a working and middle class city with lots of bright neon signs and big shopping areas and malls. Peachtree City is a quiet upper class area which does not even allow outdoor signage of any type that is lit at night. Douglasville has few sidewalks, PC has many. The pickup is the prefered mode of transportation in Douglasville while the golf cart is the preferred mode of transit in PC. Everybody in PC owns a golf cart even if they don't play golf.

Peachtree City is really incredible and, like everyone says, is completely different from Douglasville. It truly depends on what you are looking for. PTC is extremely family oriented and values recreation, schools, and quality of life. Douglasville isn't like that, IMO. It is much more of a typical town. It's not for us, but I'm sure many like it there.
