Good apartments check Medlock Bridge road off Satellite, and Sugarloaf off Satellite and Sugarloaf, both in 30097. You will pay for them, but as with this area or anyplace you get what you pay for. Some apartment complexes in 30096 have issues and contribute to much of the issues in the area, that and I-85 of course.
Another area offering nice apartments is a little further north by 8 miles is Mall of Georgia. Again, you will pay for it, but everything is at your fingertips, plus Gwinnett's Northern Police HQ is there too. The traffic from MOG to Duluth is minimal mostly due to both 985 and 85 running to the same road exit.

Just to be clear - I wouldn't consider Duluth close to Emory Children's (it's actually called Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Emory now). Unless you are going to be driving to Emory at very off hours, you need to try and and assess what kind of commute you will have. Even with no traffic, I think that would take me about 40 minutes from my house, and I live in the very south part of Duluth (which is nowhere near the Mall of Georgia as your earlier poster suggested).

In Gwinnett/Duluth there is a Children's Healthcare Facility on Satellite Blvd and one on Sugarloaf Pkwy.
This apartment complex could be anywhere along this route.
The main campus of Emory/Children's Healthcare is about 40 minutes away, FWIW.

The location in 30303 is SE Atlanta, Duluth is NE. 45min to 1hr commute.
The Scottish Rite location is on Johnson Ferry Rd/Peachtree Dunwoody/north of Perimeter Mall. NW of Duluth. Also 45 min to lhr from Duluth due to heavy traffic in this area.
To easily travel between these two locations you would need to live ITP, perhaps somewhere near Chamblee/Buford Hwy--parts of this area are not safe, FYI.

No, that would probably be worse. Why are you so intent on these areas?

No. Alpharetta is west of Duluth, both are north of Atlanta.
Scottish Rite is about 30 minutes south of Alpharetta and/or Duluth but within one of the most heavily traveled parts of metro Atlanta.
The 30303 healthcare center is in SE Atlanta.
Someone else may have additional suggestions but in general somewhere along MARTA's N/S line might work. Chamblee/Peachtree Industrial is rather central.
