Question Water in Marietta

Where does Marietta get it's water supply from? Is the water there hard or soft?

Most of the water comes from Lake Allatoona in Acworth, just NW of Marietta. Like other area lakes, it's very low, and we are on a "level 4" drought warning. All outdoor watering is banned and certain other restrictions are in place.

Most of the water reports come back with passing grades, and no one I know of complains about "hard" water or has to use hard water treament tanks.

The water in Marietta is soft by nature. Normally hard water you will find in Florida due to the groundwater having to pass through limestone...which is why they use lime softening in water treatment.

You don't have to use the softening process in GA... its all surface water (well most of it is).

thanks atlantagreg & jillmaican for the tip. This water here will tear your skin apart. Any good advice on where to move there and what areas to avoid? I've been hearing good things about Marietta tho. Can you comment?
