Yep, I don't see the others going anywhere either... College Football HOF and a center for human and civil rights? really? who goes to that sort of thing? A very small number of people, that's who.

I spent some time in Charlotte for business and it's a nice little city, but going to the NASCAR HOF was never on my list of things to do...

This picking on Charlotte and other cities is way ridiculous. We don't like for others to criticize Atlanta and point out its shortcomings. Let's not do the same. Reminds me of some of my daughters' junior high friends.

I think more people will go to it once they build more museums around it. I hope they succeed

Geesh I thought it was just me. This just isn't a good look for Atlanta at all.

The other museums in Uptown are along the main drag, Tryon, for the most part. An Embassy Suites is comimg to a parcel not too far away. Architecturally, the HOF looks really nice and doesn't come across as a white elephant at all; it's not an elaborate sports venue built for the Olympics which lacks any practical use afterwards. Right now it's getting a lot of use as a special events venue which is "saving" it somewhat.

On another note, "Talladega Nights" was one of the funniest movies I've ever seen.

I think the issue is interesting to look at so we don't make the same mistakes... There were some previous articles from Charlotte a year or two back about how city leaders and boosters didn't adaquetly research the numbers when they made their pitch of estimated attendance to NASCAR.

The key problem is this will be a stain on the reputation of that city trying to attract new attractions. It also means they didn't build a facility that would fit the right ratio of cost-to-income.

Atlanta doesn't have this problem, because we have many more visitors to our city and we have proven track records and verified research.

Beyond that I agree... let it go..

We also discussed this issue to death in the past in the Atlanta forums -and- the Charlotte forums.
