Shutting down Buckhead Village was one of the worst moves Atlanta has ever made. Hell, had they waited just a couple years the economy might have wiped out a few of the more troublesome establishments. Instead it froze that Streets of Buckhead boondoggle for the better part of a decade. Karma...
Yes EAV was around but not with as many places as their are now.
Not to mention Crecent Ave is bigger as well.
Edgewood Ave?We dont even need to mention what that was like.

Crowds were in the street everywhere
There was probably a special event going on. Most of those "bars" are actually restaurants. I live right down the street so I can vouch that this is not usually the case.

I wouldn't even bother with Buckhead. The night life has definitely moved to Midtown and Edgewood.

I live in walking distance to the bars in Buckhead that have been mentioned. I think it's subjective what people consider a great nightlife. Is it just going out and having a bunch of places to drink? If that's what one considers great nightlife, then yeah, Buckhead has that.

I mean yes the bars in the area are packed but it's just a bunch of people standing around drinking and talking with DJ's playing crappy Top 40 music. For me personally, that's not my idea of a great nightlife. I will go just to get out and have a drink because it's most convenient to me; and I've met some nice and interesting people there. It's not as stuffy people claim. I felt the people were more stuffy in Virginia-Highland and unfriendly when I lived there and would go out. I found people to be more friendly and engaging in Buckhead ironically. In Buckhead, I have great conversations with random strangers all the time and men constantly buy me drinks lol. That never happened when I lived in Virginia-Highland--and I lived there much longer and went out more there.

I think EAV is a bit more eclectic and also has venues for seeing good live bands. Midtown may be better for dance clubs. I also like the Star Bar in L5P. I haven't really hung out in Edgewood.

I'd venture to say an area that offers a good night life offers more than bars or places to drink. An area that offers a good night life also offers a more eclectic environment and more venues for dancing with good DJ's and hearing live music. Buckhead doesn't have that. Not anymore.

It still has the Havana Club and The Sanctuary. But I'm not impressed with the cluster of bars.

I like Edgewood the most. Im either at Sound Table, Cafe Circa, Mother, Joystick Game Bar and Harold Chicken. I give that area a few more years and it really will be booming

It's true, Buckhead has a bunch of bars over there. It always did.

What you're failing to realize is that Buckhead used to also have a lot of bars in Buckhead Village....but what it REALLY had there were CLUBS. There's a difference, you know. If you want to just go out and have a few drinks in a chill environment, then yeah, bars are fine.

But if you want to go out and really party, Buckhead used to have actual clubs. You could go dance to disco at Bellbottoms. You could go hear some pretty decent dance music at Paradox or Uranus. You could go check out the dirty wet t-shirt contest Girls Gone Wild style flashing at Mako's or the sleazy dry humping at Bar Atlanta. You could go get your Latin on the Havana Club. You could go get crunk at Fluid. I can't remember the name of the reggae place, but you could go hear singer/songwriter type music at the Elbow Room or chill with a fishbowl on the roof at Lulu's Bait Shack. And you could do all this in about a 3 or 4 square block area, stumbling through the streets that had been cordoned off for cars and only allowed pedestrian traffic. And when it was all over, you could quite easily just catch one of the hundreds of cabs that were always around waiting to take drunk people home. If you wanted to do all of this on a random Tuesday or Wednesday night, there were generally enough college kids and conventioneers to keep the place at least mildly crowded. On weekends it was a madhouse.

It's definitely a shell of its former self.

Va-Hi is SOO stuffy. Not fun for me at all.Its like the Buckhead crowd moved there. Buckhead does has more bars and not clubs today.Did not think about that. But the crowd is cool. Not pretentious like it has been in the past.
My favorite by far is Edgewood.
