This is very shortsighted on your part. North Fulton is a major jobs center in the metro, they pay taxes that go towards the funding of MARTA, and the residents actually want rail. How in the world could you have even come to the conclusion that you have? Did you even bother to read the article?

Extending the red line up 400 would benefit residents, commuters, and businesses. Glad to see good support from a very conservative part of the metro.

Same here. Frankly I was a bit surprised to see that the support was nearly unanimous; this is definitely a good thing.

Should the red line extension be priority over the I 20 line?

Selfish thoughts: no. I live three blocks from where they are going to put one of the BRT stations.

In reality they should do a cost / benefit analysis on the cost and projected ridership of each line. And build the one that will provide the most benefit for the dollar.

I think so, simply because north Fulton is one of the major jobs centers of the region.

Yet, the vast majority of MARTA riders are black and most of the blacks live along the I-20 going east. Aren't mot of the conservative whites who live in the northern regions rich anyway? They'll just drive their cars anyway.

Wow, you obviously weren't at the meeting Wednesday. All but I think 3 people who spoke out of maybe two dozen, voiced support for Heavy Rail. All but two or three of said supporters were white. There were probably 100 people through the two Q&A sessions. The area the Red Line serves north of Atlanta is predominantly white already, it's time to get over this whole "only blacks ride MARTA" thing.

Did you read what you typed after you typed it? You're not making an iota of sense. Transit expansion to north Fulton will primarily benefit folks who live in other parts of the metro--Black, White, Hispanic, Asian, whoever--get to the jobs there. People who already live and work in the area wouldn't need to ride it for daily commuting purposes, duh!

I still don't get why we are focusing so much attention to these silly suburban areas when the city of Atlanta is poorly served itself. There are neighborhoods begging for transit that isn't downtown or midtown. Just silly to me.

All we're doing is asking jobs and companies to continue avoiding the city itself and go straight for the suburbs just furthering the points made by the Portland mayor.

I don't get it...there's a reason NYC is such a successful city. Most of the jobs are focused in the city itself....not in the suburbs.

And we wonder why downtown is such a mess. We're practically asking new businesses and companies to come to the suburbs.
