What information can you guys give us about North Atlanta High School? What are the pros and cons? Why is it better or worse than other APS High Schools?
I was just at a luncheon last week with a bunch of mothers of City of Atlanta elementary school age children. They are convinced that North Atlanta is getting better. Already, the IB programme is very good and highly regarded.

Lack of achievement, huge school climate issues, etc.
"school climate issues"??
I graduated from NAH c/o '03, and I have no clue of these school climate issues you speak of. North Atlanta was a very, very diverse school-Black kids from the hood, preppy Black kids and preppy White kids, Indians, Koreans, Mexicans, skateboarders, goths, thespians, the whole lot, and for the most part everyone got along really well. Sure there were some knuckleheads, but as someone who also went to B.T. Washington over off of MLK for my soph. year, trust when I say that NAH was like night and day compared to that school. And lack of achievement? Once again I dont know what your speaking of, a number of my classmates got full rides to schools like Emory, Colgate, UGA, Morehouse, U of M, Spelman, and Tuskegee, and NAH was sorry in sports, so there were no athletic free rides coming from there...lol. Sure its no Westminister, but where else in the city will find a public school that diverse with that quality of education? There a only a couple that come to mind.

How would you compare North Atlanta High to Grady High or Jackson High (formerly Southside High)?

Grady and NAH are about the same IMO, there are some differences though. Like I think NAH has a much higher % of Hispanic students as Lindbergh and Defoors Ave are in the NAH district, but overall both are shining examples of what an inner city school can be-diverse, and a few trouble makers here and there, but for the most part kids are there to learn and progress to the next level. Southside High, well, to me Southside was always ghetto. LOL... I dont care if they change the name and I dont care how many kids from Grant Park start going there, it will probably be ghetto for some time. IMO as far as APS goes you got Grady and NAH at the top rung, then schools like Mays and Douglas below them, and after that all the other schools bringing up the rear. I have heard Carver has gotten allot better though.....
Seems like I read that the city is converting North Atlanta to a middle school and building a new high school somewhere in Buckhead.
