This is a logistical masterstroke. Having another large hotel within walking distance of GWCC, especially if it's positioned where the gold deck is currently and its adjacency to Hall C, would make planning for that space much easier. No longer would large shows have a need to arrange for buses and cars for attendees between hotels and the exhibit hall. For exhibit planners, it would mean that it would be easier to move your event attendees between the meeting spaces and their hotels with minimal hassle.
This would offer Las Vegas-style convenience with the larger and better equipped meeting spaces we have in Atlanta.

You don't think private companies will continue to build new hotels in downtown to meet demand like they have been?

I may have a personal bias at play here against additional hotel rooms downtown.

I understand that is the plan, but how quick do you think that can/will change when they look at tailgating space that will be used a dozen times a year and generate zero revenue, over additional convention & hotel space that can generate hundreds of thousands (if not millions) of dollars a year.

Why? I think additional hotel rooms will help downtown.

The Gold Deck location is actually a good place for this, and there could be at least one more hotel built closer to the MMPT, south of Mitchell.

I hope, it doesn't end up like the Hilton Baltimore Convention Center.

Where exactly do you mean by "the gold deck location"? You mean the little sliver between the Dome and Hall C?
