The best dealers to me price wise always seemed to be on the Southside. Hennessy Southlake, Fiat in Southlake, and Don Jackson in Union city had the best prices when i was looking.

Getting to the south side is a bit out of the way for me. I'm pretty much never over there. I had looked at a dealer in Union City and for used cars, I thought they were pretty high. Once of the highest I had looked at.

I don't want to spend a lot on a car since I plan to move back to Chicago and most likely won't have a use for it; will mostly likely get rid of it once I get back there. But I need something while I'm still in Atlanta.

In addition, try CarGurus.com

Ahh, okay......congrats.

I didn't realize this thread was old.....my bad.

That's the best way to go, especially since you're moving back to Chicago. You can always "unload" the car on Craigslsit if you decide to sell it.

One thing that I will always miss about Chicago, is the mass transit. When I lived there for 10 years, I did not miss owning a car.

That is one of the most bizarre stories I have ever heard. Which one did you go to?

FYI ... the best way to buy a car from Carmax is online. Pick the car you want, enter your personal info ... they'll have it and the papers waiting for you when you go to the dealership. Drive it around the block, sign, drive off. Simple.

I got my last car from Carmax and did pick it out online first.

My brother got one from Drivetime and did not have any issues.

I have a a friend who got one from an auction place in Forest Park. I think it was on Frontage Road, but you have to be careful which day you go because they only guarantee the engine and transmission on certain days.
