Question Medicare Home Health Care Visiting Nurses / Nurses Aid Henry County

We are relocating to Henry County / Locust Grove in December. I care for my elderly grandmother who is bed bound. I currently have in Florida a Home Health Care Service that comes out through Medicare. (nurse, physical therapist and nurses aid who baths my grandmother and gets her dressed) They provide a temporary service usually an 8 week stretch and then once that period is complete they revisit should my grandmothers doctor see that there still is a need. Does anyone know of such service or similar in Henry County that accepts medicare. I know that there are plenty of services for medicaid but she owns a home and otherwise does not qualify. We have used the medicare service for over 2 years and it works for us as I stay at home with her full time. I have had a stroke and the additional help is needed.

Thanks

I'm a social worker and like you, I'm relocating to ATL on 2008 and have begun the research for my elderly parents. I would suggest that you go directly to the Medicaire.gov website and then locate the resources for Georgia. In addition, the United Way has a resource guide on services for the aging: (2-1-1 Call Center Search). I highly recommend that you review that website anytime you need to locate social services. You should try to locate an organization that helps coordinate the transition of benefits from one state to the other.

Best wishes on your relocation!
