I went down the road to Sweetwater Creek Park yesterday (Sun 11/18/07) and well - there isn't a lake anymore!

The creek is lower but still there and not flowing nearly as quickly as before. The main lake is pretty much gone. Here are a couple of shots I took...

Luckily not all is lost and there was still some nice color (and water) further down creekside at the hiking trails...

Well, one good thing- it'll make it easy to do a lake cleanup- they can get all of the old tires, cars, and anything else that ended up in the lake out prior to the big rainfall that Sonny's prayer service surely has coming our way. I started buildimg my ark this weekend.........

There were several areas in the dry lakebed where there were stacks of tires piled in an organized way, so I'm assuming people did this so others can come in later and haul them off. There were a few barrels here and there as well as general trash (soda cans, etc), but not as much as I thought there would be - pehaps folks have already cleaned much of it up. The most common site were tons and tons of shells from lake shellfish that have died.
