No, I only liked using it when there was a toll.

Me too! I always enjoyed having to slow down and throw 50 cents into the basket. I think it was fun and exciting. And I'm 100 percent serious!

To me, paying 50 cents to drive down such a beautiful freeway was a bargain. And all the better if a MARTA train came whooshing down the median! That was bonus!

(TO THE OP: Metro Atlanta would have a lot fewer traffic problems if we had more toll roads like Ga 400 criss-crossing the metro, like they do down in Orlando. There is nothing wrong with the "principle" of paying for the convenience of something you use.)

Enjoy the removal of the tolls from GA 400 while it lasts, because with both the state and the feds running increasingly short on transportation funds obtained by traditional means (fuel taxes and extremely-heavy borrowing), the tolls will likely return in the not-too-distant future, with a vengeance.

...As evidenced by the toll lanes that are popping up on I-85 North in Gwinnett County, on I-75 and I-575 North in Cobb and Cherokee counties, and on I-75 South in Henry County.

The day is coming within the next couple of decades when motorists will have to pay tolls to drive on EVERY expressway and many major surface arterial roads.

The days of government being able to keep the public in the dark about where transportation funding REALLY comes from by hiding the true costs of roads and transit are quickly coming to a close.

Frankly that will be a great blessing. We'll pay -- and know -- the actual costs of transportation, rather than keeping them hidden from view. That will be a great aid in helping us make rational decisions about transportation infrastructure.

By the time you try to avoid the toll, you'd probably end up spending well over 50 cents worth of gas honestly. Not to mention wasted time

I am. I was too cheap to pay 50 cents to ride on Ga 400.

Good to know. During my visit, we used that toll countless times.

Rocco, did you ever see a more beautiful freeway? It's a gorgeous drive ... especially at night! Well worth the 50 cents IMO!
