I agree with this point while I agree that there are a shortage of professional and successful black men I do think black women are partly to blame for choosing losers. Especially with this whole wanna be thug hip hop culture black women tend to want the guys that are more street, or thuggish, which a lot of times are the ones with some of the loser / no good qualities that you mention.
A lot successful black men aren't going to be from that background nor are they the kind that want to pretend to be something that they aren't. I've seen nice women turn down dates from nice guys for bums all the time they don't even have to be good looking bums just the fact that they have a street personification to them is good enough sometimes even if the street in them is fake. A girl I went to school with who was working on her Masters at the time I think she has gotten her PHD since she decided to date(and eventually marry) this dude with no job, no effort to go to school, got baby mamas, all the no good qualities you can think of. She was constantly around black men who were successful or on the verge of being successful but she chose a bum, the men can't be totally blamed for those kind of decisions. Of course she was going around talking about how sorry ALL black men were even though she was surrounded by good ones that would be interested in dating her.
Plus Atlanta is known for having a high ratio of females to males, half the females I've known have moved there so of course its going to be a lower number of good black men there relative to the number of successful women there. Not saying all black women want losers or guys that have a thuggish personality but from my experience I've noticed a good number of them do and men pick up and they see what women like so more try to be like that its probably why you have even less good men out here nowadays. Not trying to put this all on black women black men aren't doing their part we know that but black women also need to take responsibility in the part they play in this.

There are several at my workplace, and I've met others in various places. Most of them are married already as far as I know.

This actually sad but funny. I'm a black male in my 30's and so are my make friends. Most of the women white or black in atlanta that claim that they can not find any good black men or professional black men need to step up their game. I have dated a few women in their 30's and 40's and to be honest most women our being so blocked and closed in that they can't and are not ready to enjoy a good man when he comes around. The key for any woman to finding a good man is to be a good woman. Being nice and good looking does not mean that you are ready. Much Love

lol its not just the thug syndrome either. also alot of black women don't know what a good black man is!!!! the majority don't know what they are looking for in a man period. all black women need us for now is sex!!!!! on another note, black women screaming out all that independent crap just shows me that you don't need a man! so i just leave them alone, and let them cry about how lonely they are, and how they can't find anybody.

interesting. have talked to others on this, female black friends, two are family members. but it would seem the issues for blacks and others are not so unalike. its not like there are not any men, there are---- its that very special man they want that is the issue.

Has anyone mentioned church as a good place to meet someone? I think there needs to be better communication between men and women in general. People are being fed so much stuff and we aren't going to take the time to rightly divide between the real and the fake when it comes to things like this. There's always going to be some women that can't find a man considering that our country is 51% women. So, some women, even if of the men were with a woman, would be left out in the cold. I think sistas can hold off on the mail order brothas from Nigeria, where there are more men than women, for now if we are willing to work together to set some records about this straight.

My wife is black. The way she tells it, She started dating white men because she was tired of being hit, cheated on, and having her black boyfriends spending bill money on things like playstations, rims, ect, ect..
She's a VERY independent woman and I wouldn't have it any other way.
