Hi!
From what I understand from agents, sales have slowed here only because people normally move here from Florida and other hot spots, and because they haven't been able to sell their homes, so the market here is stalling. Sales continue to happen from local folk. City folk from Atlanta seem not to be moving as quick as they were either, and that's got to be due to the market adjusting downward on their properties. There's been some adjustment here, but not as much as ATL.
When we moved here in 2001 this area was in a drought, and in either 2002 or 03 we received enough rain that Lake Lanier was back up to normal levels and things were good until this year. That's the nice thing about the area - one good rainy winter or spring and everything will be ok. It's not like the west where things are always dry, and never going to not be dry.
Visit
Dahlonega, Lumpkin County: The Dahlonega Nugget. The local newspaper for Dahlonega, Georgia to keep up on all the local news. There's a lot going on with the local gov't helping develop the area to continue and improve the area. The older locals are a little resistant sometimes though!
Nice talking with ya!
