Make your municipality appealing to all businesses. Not just the ones you buy-off. Small businesses, which rarely have political connections, create most of the jobs in this country and should not be taxed to pay benefits to big business.

He points runs some very forgiving numbers and shows that the Weather Channel's benefit to Cobb is comparable to what the Braves are saying they will do. Agree with his conclusion:

Once you start paying companies to create jobs, every company has reason to think it should get a little something for its trouble, even in a traditionally low-tax place like Cobb. And no local community -- or (cough, cough) state -- can afford to keep that up for long.

Wow, I agree with everything Kyle Wingfield said and I never agree with him. Yet again, this Braves situation is making some strange bedfellows.

Let the games begin.

They just reported on Channel 2 that the Tea party has filed its first lawsuit against Cobb over this stadium thing.

The Tea party doesn't mess around.

Quote:
Channel 2's Lori Geary spoke to Atlanta Tea Party Patriots founder Debbie Dooley, who said it's about public money going into a private enterprise.

"We believe this is an unconstitutional use of the money, the taxpayer money," Dooley told Geary.

Dooley said the problem is the proposal uses almost $9 million a year from the general fund to help pay off the $300 million in bonds.

Dooley said this is something that cannot stand.
