And its full of law firms... Okay - I think Suntrust's investment banking arm is there, too.

I agree, its all spread apart. For example, Suntrust's USA admin is downtown, their GA/Southeast admin is in midtown, and their private wealth div is in buckhead. First Data, ICE in Perimeter. Invesco, Wells Fargo, BB&T, Regions in midtown. Citizens Trust Bank, Atlanta Life Financial downtown. If I were forced to label one I would also say buckhead because thats where I would guess the financial business deals, loans, mergers, acquisitions, etc are probably done because of the amount of wealthy people and investors in buckhead. Specifically the commerial office building district of buckhead up and down Peachstreet between Piedmont and Lenox.

My first thought, too, seeing as it is named Atlanta Financial Center.
If there is a concentration, I'd agree with most that it is in the Lenox area.

I've posted NUMEROUS threads about moving to and visiting Atlanta. See my thread about my visit to Atlanta as well as my thread asking "where is this". It's a pic I took while in Atlanta and I wanted to know the area.

Atlanta's actually got a surprisingly large financial services industry when you add everything up, but nothing to match the likes of Charlotte, NYC, SF, and so on.
It isn't that surprising. Atlanta has always been a larger financial city and a regional hub.

Charlotte is still a considerably smaller city.

I would say a greater percentage of Charlotte's economy is driven by financial services, than Atlanta's.

However, Atlanta still has more high paying financial service jobs than Charlotte. We just don't have the excitement of the BoA headquarters.

I think Atlanta has about double the number of financial jobs and triple of business services, but Charlotte is much better off on per capita basis.

Buckhead is the financial district in terms of brokerage houses, consulting and wealth management.

But there are financial businesses all over the metro area.

Buckhead.

To the OP, what is your obsession with Atlanta? It's cool, but it ain't THAT cool. Not much different from any other major city in the sun belt.

This is about districts, not which has more of what... I thought that was made specific in the OP. Charlotte is the second largest banking center in the U.S., and that is punching above its weight. Which area in Atlanta has a cluster of financial offices like Uptown Charlotte has Bank of America, Wells Fargo, BB&T, Ally Financial, Fifth Third Bank, First Citizens, ect.
