Exclusive: Next one leaving V-103 is Egypt Sherrod | Radio & TV Talk | www.accessatlanta.com

This has been a brutal week at V-103. First, Kendra G and Christopher "Crash" Clark were cut Monday from Ryan Cameron's morning show, as reported earlier today. Now mid-day host Egypt Sherrod is out. herrod's agent/attorney Donald Woodard said she's leaving on her own accord with her contract up in March, 2014. Here is her statement sent exclusively to me:
“I relocated with my family to Atlanta in 2011 to join the V-103 family and I instantly fell in love with the warmth of the people of Atlanta, and the city I now call home. "However, after much consideration I have decided that the time is right for me to take a break from the station while I look to focus on a number of upcoming multi-media business opportunities. Have no fear; I have 19 years of my life invested in radio, and I have no plans of walking away from it permanently. I am very excited about the dynamic year ahead I have in store.”

Hmmm... Maybe Frank Ski will come back and do the afternoon show, or his DC show will syndicate with V-103 in the afternoon.

10am-2pm is just a bad time slot. People are at work during those hours. If we do listen to move at our office it is our own music.

I actually like to listen to the Ryan Cameron show. Too bad Crash Clark and Kendra G are gone.

The death of commercial radio is happening. We have too many other options available now

Yea, radio is awful in the afternoons unless it's sports radio. Morning and evenings are fit for music and talk radio these days. (Tom Joyner, Steve Harvey, etc...)

If sports talk radio took over the airwaves completely, I'd be OK with that.

I knew, she wouldn't last long because her ratings were dropping.

Sucks that they dropped Crash C. Ryan sucks in the morning. I don't see him lasting too long, if the ship doesn't right side up.

Clark is the first full-time white dude on-air host on V-103 but based on research, he didn't connect with the core V-103 black female listeners...

Black women RUN this city. Dude lost his job?

I wish her well.

I don't like V103 in particular but make it a priority to listen to other on-air radio stations in Atlanta, especially community radio 89.3 WRFG, NPR, and 104.1 due to Tom Joyner, which I listen to in the morning over Ryan Cameron. Never liked him even when he was with the former hot 97.5 back in the day. I do think he will last as the morning show person due to being an Atlanta native and people liking him. I used to listen to 107.5 in the afternoons on the way home but since Michael Baisden is gone I catch up on 89.3 and Democracy Now.

Rather than the on-air personalities I believe its the station managers (or more likely the holding company directors) that are killing local radio.

Constant format changes....on-air changes....ridiculously repetitive (and out of touch) playlists....these are the people killing the medium.

Do they not realize that their actions are driving away their customers? If it happened in any other industry heads will role but sadly in radio its the voice on the end product who is so often the scape goat.
