ITP--The entire food court in "China Town" on New Peachtree Rd. All sorts of authentic Chinese food, with some American Chinese food, and other cheap eats. 5383 New Peachtree Rd. It's a Chinese strip-mall with its own courtyard. (Restrooms are not the cleanest).

There is a charge for sharing a meal at the "Mini Hot Pot" 4897 Buford Hwy, Atl (and 2174 Pleasent Hill, Gwinnett) but they have never charged us for our kids-- either, sharing our meal, or them sharing their own meal. (It's a sort of Chinese fondu--a boiling soup where you cook your own meats and own veggies). The Atlanta location is smaller and, has a sort of cheerful diner feel. The Gwinnett location is larger, and feels a bit more sophisticated. (The food is the same at either... Only "cheap" if the kids share--but the portions are huge). As long as you don't worry about boiling your kids--both are kid-friendly. The owner is great and the pride she takes in her restaurants really shows.

OTP
A more ethnically diverse, but similar food court set-up can be found at the Korean supermarket "Assi" in Gwinnett County --Korean, Malaysian, Peruvian and others. For an Indian food court in Gwinnett you can try the food court at "Global Mall" 5675 Jimmy Carter Bvd. (More of a mix of good and so-so than the other places).

Yes Yes Yes. One of the chinese places in that food court we love has similar food to a chinese place in northwest Atlanta I had been to through work with prices in the range of $17 per dish for Lunch. Can't beat the prices or the authentic food at the food court, as long as you don't expect a fancy setting.

Check out Aviva, its healthy no hormones and antibiotics. They also are running a scoutmob now and only open during the week. It is delicious and probably the best value in Atl.

No sure if they are in town, but I suggest finding a Cook-Out. They are mostly in NC, but I know a few have moved in to Atlanta.

For 5 dollars, you can get:

1. A Burger, chicken sandwich, or pulled pork sandwich

2. A choice of 2 sides, which include Fries, CHICKEN NUGGETS (as a side!), a Quesadilla, and some other stuff I cant think of.

3. A drink, including a soda, coke float, or milk shake (not extra charge).

The food is really good, much better than most fast food restaurants. They do nickel and dime you for anything you add to the burger, but you still end up spending less than 30.

I have a hard time cooking at home for my family for under $30. The cost of produce and meat is very high these days.

Homegrown. Get a stack of three pancakes and a side for $8 that can feed two adults. Probably 3.

Hong Kong Harbor on Cheshire Bridge Rd has cheap lunch specials. I had garlic chicken, rice, egg roll, soup and hot tea for 7-8 bucks.
