What I've heard most around the country is "Hotlanta".

This site claims truckers call it "Watermelon 500". Is that racist?

Does the "Hot" stand for high temperatures or "hot" as in "She's/He's hot!"?

My impression is the latter, although some people take it to mean the temperature.

Me either, but after doing a quick search it really does seem to be based in trucker culture. On a positive note, my blind hatred for truckers was just vindicated.
