Deal rejected arguments that the storm was proof more mass transit investment was needed, but he said the state will consider measures to keep truck traffic out of metro Atlanta during storm conditions.
I'm a Northerner so please don't jump on me- have people I know that live in No. Carolina. I think the Weather channel gave plenty of warning. The minute I saw the predictions for down South I knew you would have problems. You had ice.
I don't even drive on ice unless I positively have to. You would need studded tires for that!
Even up here the weather can be totally different from county to county or even town to town- so if something is predicted anywhere around you listen to it.
Just looked that up-yeah a few N.E states allow it during the winter. NH and VT no restrictions. Apparently they can damage the roads. But no one would keep them on in the summer up here. I actually don't have them which is why I don't enjoy driving on ice. I have an AWD with four snow tires-bit of overkill?
Anyhow, just want to let the Southerners know the North is not laughing at you-we actually sympathize with what happened and I'm sure measures will be taken to make it better if it happens again.
I can't believe that any sane person could reject the notion that more mass transit would have helped...well, I guess that rules Deal out then.
Basically...fun times for the Atlanta forum though fun times. Has anyone seen Tony?
