"Taxi and limo industries argue Silicon Valley companies such as Uber and Lyft raise public safety concerns"

Boom. Right there. That's who's fueling this bill.

Totally agree.

I say let the free market rule and sort out the winners and losers. It's outlandish for Republicans, of all people, to start imposing more layers of government regulation and red tape.

Whatever happened to the idea of fostering entrepreneurship and job creation?

Or are those just political slogans you use to bash your opponents with?

Anything is better than an Atlanta taxi. A few years ago, I reserved a taxi the night before for a morning pickup to go to the airport. The scheduled time came and went with no taxi. I called the company, and they said "We're really busy. We can probably get you a taxi in 2-3 hours". I explained that I made a reservation the night before, and the guy basically just said "Oh well, we'll get to you when we can". I ended up having to drive to the airport and park my car there for two weeks because of it. Screw 'em.

Uber exclude people who use cash, so taxis offers more options for their customers.

That's one case out many who had good experiences with Atlanta taxis.
Last week a Uber driver pulled a gun and threatened to kill a parking valet at a hotel, should we generalize this story to all Uber drivers.
Most Uber drivers are former taxi drivers, they are the same people driving with the same habits and mentality, the only difference is the vehicle type, that's all.
Flying a helicopter doesn't make you a nice guy or a nice pilot.
