Why are you coming to Atlanta for an acting career? You should be going to NYC or L.A. I would recommend NYC. I did some acting there. You will learn alot about the industry as NYC is all about the arts. There are tons of theatre groups, lots of networking, lots of opportunities to work on real TV shows and movie sets. Yeah NY is expensive but you are young so you can hook up with a bunch of other people and share an apt. that's what most single people do. You will not regret it. I wish you all the best of luck!

It funny but I was just having this conversation with my father-in-law about 15 mins ago. He is an administrator in tampa at the "school for the arts" I mention that I had heard on the news that there was a school for the arts in Atlanta, He knew it well, one of his teacher had spent 10 years teaching there. He said their main focus is on preforming, they perform all over Atlanta. He also said it has a very good reputation.
It may be worth checking out then once you graduate you can consider moving to NY
Good luck to you
Karla

Azmi -

I know the school Karla referred to, as it's run by old friends of mine. Atlanta Workshop Players has their own website & is run by Lynn Ellis Stallings & her husband, Don. Lynn's mother ran an actor's workshop for many years in Atlanta, as well. She also used to teach ballet & Lynn was a professional dancer with her 1st husband, for many years. She took over her mother's school probably 20-yrs ago now.

In any event, check them out for at least a guideline of what courses they offer. I used to be a hairstylist/make-up artist in Atlanta, working in TV/film & there is plenty of work in Altanta. Just hook up with a reputable acting studio, then manager/agent. Lynn can guide you, in any event, even if you don't attend her school.

Good luck to you in your schooling & career... Baltic_Celt

I just called my father in law and he said the high school is the Atlanta school for the arts. If your still in high school you have what sounds like 2 great opportunities to take advantage of.
the Atlanta Workshop Players sounds wonderful. hmmm wonder if I am too old to dust off the "ole vocal cords"
