I am choosing an apartment in alpharetta off 400highway on exit 7 and my job is off exit 11. Im new to the area and thinking that it would only take about 15 minutes but I have heard that it can take an hour to get to work with the traffic. Is this true. Please advise. dont want to be late to work.

Yes. It can take an hour or longer depends on what time you are going and if the weather is bad. During the 7 to 9AM period, traffic can move as slow as 5MPH in the metro,

The worst part will likely be getting to 400- most people will be getting there to go south, but they'll still back traffic up pretty badly. I'd look for back roads rather than taking 400, but I wouldn't figure on 15 minutes in either case (nothing in that area takes only 15 minutes....lol)- at least 30 minutes to be safe, especially if you're a ways off the exits.

But you'll be going against traffic so you should be okay if you're living at 7 and working at 11.

No such thing as 'against' 400 traffic until AFTER Windward Pkwy northbound. At least aslee missed the last three years of constant road construction in that area.

I would agree about the back roads, if you can find some. Amazing how quickly a Home Depot, Kroger or WallyWorld springs up on somebody's shortcut.

I just got through working a 4 month assignment that had me getting on 400 at Holcomb Bridge Rd (I think that's exit 7) and getting off at Windward Pkwy (exit 11) around 8am. It takes roughly 10 min to make that trip, although sometimes it can backup on the exit ramp getting off at Windward Pkwy. It was against traffic and a very consistent and predictable ride. Coming home around 5pm was a breeze as well.
