After the Glenwood Park debacle, I'm soured on this guy forever. Given his track record, what could he possibly propose here? This isn't the exurbs, suburbs, or even a close-in Atlanta neighborhood. It's the exact center of the city.

Am I missing something? Glenwood Park is a great development and a marvelous example of New Urbanism. Get over yourselves.

Yeah, you are. He wants to build a 150,000 square foot, suburban style Walmart adjacent to Glenwood Park with a parking lot to accomodate 1200 cars. On a two lane, residential street. Across from a high school. Directly on the Beltline.

Their beef isn't with GLP as it exists today, but with Jeff Fuqua's steadfast conviction to cram a development that violates the Beltline master plan into the middle of it. Because the COA missed the boat on changing the zoning, he can legally pretty much do whatever he wants, regardless of detriment to the surrounding area or Beltline.

As red said, Glenwood Park is an amazing development and was not done by Fuqua. It is the big box and sea of parking next to it that he is proposing that people are unhappy about.

I would hear out what he is proposing for Underground. However, he should not be getting any "incentives" from the city.

Maybe you should know what you are talking about before you speak rudely to other people. This is what Fuqua initially proposed adjacent to Glenwood park:

"Fuqua Development submitted its third plan in March for the 800 Glenwood Avenue site that includes an approximately 143,000 square-foot anchor tenant that may or may not be a Walmart."
