The same holds true for MARTA. As much as people like to rag on it, it does take half a million cars off the road each day. Can you imagine another half million cars on the road during rush hour in Atlanta? It would be chaos.

Well, I'm a big MARTA booster but it doesn't take a half million cars off the road.

MARTA serves 123,000 people on an average weekday, a good many of whom don't have cars in the first place.

That's a lot of folks but it's far from half a million.

The number of actual riders is much lower. See this note from MARTA's minutes last year:

123,000 per day is still a lot of people. That's roughly the amount of traffic one of our big freeways carries in one direction per day.

We have a major problem with this in the St.louis area also. It has gotten to the point that the only people in the city at night seem to be homeless and party people. Please check out Tunestl and let me know of the local music artist from st.louis. feel free to rate them..Hehehe they don't know I am on here!!

We'll see what you want when oil runs out. Hope you like your elbow room then.

I'll take my little plot with its garden, well, chicken coop, solar panels and my trusty Lister.

Come on over if you get tired of living in that concrete cube and want some fresh vegetables. But be sure to call first. The dogs can get riled up.

Don't worry about me, I can easily get food from the Forest Park farmers market. I can hopefully take MARTA there. Wonder how you'll get to work.
