Anyway, my daughter goes to Nickajack. So people can talk hyperbole, and I can talk experience. It's a very rigorous program. I wasn't as happy with the start of her kindergarten year because the teacher was old-fashioned and taught all the kids at the same pace for 3 months. That was a very long time for me when my daughter was at a 1st grade reading level because we sent her to a private preschool. But after that, the teacher broke them into groups based on ability, and she finished kindergarten at almost a 2nd grade reading level, so she still kept the edge. This year, she's approaching a 3rd grade reading level. Math has always been a weak spot for Nickajack, but the principal is working to change that. I'm not disappointed with the material she's learning in 1st grade. I wish they started math in Kindergarten, though, beyond counting. She was already doing addition in preschool. But they are moving fast through math in 1st grade, and I don't think she could handle anything more rigorous in math. It's already pretty challenging.

And guess what? I'm probably going to be buying a Tesla car in the next year or two. I could be spending that money on sending her to private school three times over. But I don't see any reason to. Her education is great.

netdragon, what are you thoughts on middle (and high) school in Smyrna?

I know that Smryna has good elementary schools, but don't hear too much beyond that.
