Its estimated completion date of 2019.The hotel is needed to not only meet rising demand, but it would also help Atlanta capture shows that might otherwise pass it by, according to a demand analysis study by PKF Hospitality Research LLC.The project cost is estimated at $207 million to $245 million, depending on whether it is built as a public or private project.

The study says construction of an 800-room hotel would induce an additional 116,000 trade show and convention attendees in a typical year for the GWCC. It would also increase GWCC revenues by $2.974 million annually.

The authority’s next steps are to discuss with developers what it would take to make a private deal work. The GWCCA stadium committee will receive recommendations on how to move the hotel project forward by mid-summer.
Renders attached to the story show a modern glass and steel tower of about 40 stories.

Obviously there was no way it would be the height of the Peachtree Plaza. This vague render is more of what I expected. It's shown on the top of the first page.

Here's a screenshot:

That is huge!

When the state of Georgia gets involved with something they don't mess around.

Quick! We've got to rebuild the barricade between Vine City and Downtown before the poor people come back!

I'll be behind it if they reconnect Magnolia Street and Andrew Young International Boulevard instead of leaving a field there like a bunch of jerks. Otherwise? Fu¢k this *****.

Yes, make sure the poor people have plenty of access to GWCC. What business do they have there?

Um, what about lets make it easier for people to connect within the city. Regardless of income. Plus it will help lift that area our of poverty by giving the residents there access to jobs and will make it a more appealing neighborhood for new residents to move to.

JOBS, an ability to get downtown, personal freedom? so i guess if you don't have money, you don't have a right to any of those things? who do you think maintains the facility, multi-millionaires? if something is going to be built in the area that has an economic impact, it should impact the local economy positively, not negatively. that's how the free market works. artificially blocking it off from "poor" areas takes away jobs, connectivity, and puts a further drain on the area.

i truly hope you're joking. unfortunately this sort of moronic sentiment is shared by a lot of people, which makes me think that indeed, you are not joking.
