This would open the doors for other non-county entities to operate school systems and that might be a pandora's box. But I say this would stop all talk of Milton coming back into being as a county.
If that land is to be annexed into a city I would say Chattahoochee Hills is the best fit.

The city of Atlanta is woefully behind the 8 ball financially and doesn't even have money to operate its existing parks, replace burned out streetlights or fix the potholes. COA should not attempt to annex any additional land unless it is clear that it will be revenue positive.

There are similar issues with city of Atlanta schools. We already far outspend Fulton, Cobb, Gwinnett, Forsyth and other metro school systems. While there are bright spots and rays of hope, the spending has got to be reined in before the financial burden is increased even more.

If an annexation is revenue positive for both the city of Atlanta and APS, it might make sense.

Otherwise it would be reckless.

Hence why the more rural sections should go to some combination of Fairburn/Union City/Chatt. Hills.

Annex to Atlanta that has $138 million in reserves versus a city with no tax base only serves a few that will personally profit.

City of South Fulton has:
No fire dept;
No police dept.;
No citizen input on back room deals for salaries & contracts;
No reserves.
BAD IDEA for Sandtown!!!

New to this forum... I live in South Fulton. We have Police, Fire, Public Works, Planning and Development and other city services. Thanks to Senator Shaffer we've been paying for it all since 2006.

I think you're talking about Fulton County, not the proposed city of South Fulton.

We are the proposed city of South Fulton. Northside republicans want Fulton out of the municipal business. We pay for those municipal services. If a city is formed all the services we are paying for will become part of the new city.

The assets of the municipal services provided by Fulton County government in the unincorporated areas will not automatically becoming a part of any municipality. Many of the assets are old and need to be replaced, and the facilities will have to have to be sold to which ever municipality that particular facility is located. Additionally, the areas such as Sandtown, Loch Lochmond, and likely the land owned by the City of Atlanta along the Fulton Industrial Boulevard corridor will be annexed into Atlanta.
