Interesting article on Global cities. I wonder when the transit thing gets together, how that will move Atlanta up.

Interesting...mostly I agree with the rankings, but I don't really see what's so special about Miami. Other than being a place for really rich people from Latin America to have second homes, I don't get how cutting edge it is...but maybe that's just me.

I think Miami is ranked only behind JFK with International airport traffic. That's is remarkable in itself, and definitely probably played a part in the ranking.

I dont understand this competition. If we move up then it gets more expensive here. Plus we were 37 then 40 then 39 then 36 why do we go up and down every year? Hope it stays cheap here and not more expensive.

Look like you did not read the article.

Here are measurement:

The study tracks 84 cities overall, rating them on 26 metrics in five categories: business activity, human capital, information exchange, cultural experience and political engagement.

Probably will have little effect. It's more about global influence, so the airport carries much more significance.

Transit could be considered part of "cultural experience" I guess...so better transit (Atlanta is pretty solid by US standards) might have a positive effect on Atlanta's ranking.
