Councilwoman

Winslow has used taxpayer dollars to pay a political ally $65,000 over five years to mow lawns in her district.

This Graymont Drive home is among the properties where Atlanta taxpayers footed the lawn-mowing bill. Atlanta Councilwoman Cleta Winslow paid a political ally more than $20,000 last year to mow lawns in her district, work that should have been bid out. Some of the properties were owned by banks and investors, but apparently no one was billed for the work.

The lawn thing is bad but the paying homeless people to work for her campaign seems like the even bigger and more obvious offense. The pièce de résistance:

Quote:
Invoices she submitted to the city for reimbursement showed she paid $5 an hour for the work. That’s a violation of federal labor law, which requires a minimum wage of $7.25 per hour, according to the local U.S. Labor Department office.

She may have put the city on the hook to pay back wages to about a half dozen homeless people, plus damages and civil penalties.

Emphasis added.

Not unusual.

Democratic Goobers at Atlanta City Hall, Republican Goobers at the State Capitol.

Just another crooked day in Georgia.

It really is crazy how obviously crooked a politician can be and still get elected here.
