I love my 20-year-old Wieland home. The structure seems to be fairly well constructed, and my wife and I absolutely love the floorplan.

Just to clarify, John Wieland is not a "tract" builder but a semi-custom builder. There is a big difference. Yes- there are often 10 plans per neighborhood but if none of those plans work for the buyer, just ask! They can make structural changes to any plan. And the new design center in Smyrna is amazing. Such details are never found in a "tract" builder's company.
I own a JW townhome is Mableton and love it! The neighborhood is the best and Mableton is up and coming, with low taxes and a relatively good commute to downtown. I'm very pleased with the 5-20 warranty and they've responded promptly to any service requests I've had. This was my first home and I can't be more pleased!

I think that they are definitely one of the quality builders here in Atlanta. They even have 5 year warranty compared to most builders who only have a 2 year warranty. Great reputation as far as their building is concerned.

Wieland homes are usually good communities. I think they are like anywhere and anything else it's all in what you make it and what your neighbors make it. The Wieland homes themselves are well built. To be honest I can't say anything bad about them.

John Wieland Homes
I almost bought a home in Alpharetta, Ga from them - we could not believe how spacious it was; loved the floor plan. We also stayed in The Vinings in a John Wieland Home and absolutely loved it.
If we get to ATL someday or thereabouts, I would definitely consider their product.

From what I can see their older homes age well, also ... our older Wieland home in the Stoneybrook subdivision was built either in late 1987 or early 1988. We've been in it for almost three years now and we're still quite pleased with it.
Not only the house -- the layout of the yards and wooded areas in our neighborhood is wonderful. Many newer developments tend to pack things in like sardines, but that was apparently not the case with our older subdivision -- our 18,000+ sq ft (.42 acres) is fairly typical, and a few of the lots up the hill from us are around 30,000 sq ft (almost .7 acres).
Not bad for being five miles OTP.

Cookie Cutter?
We are building a house in Canton, GA at Woodmont Golf and Country Club. As we are retiring, we have looked at MANY places all over the US before deciding on John Weiland. We could not believe the value for the money. We were able to design our own elevation, our own master bath, and had many other design options to choose from. As one of you said, all you have to do is ask. Has the process been perfect? Having built before, I can say that the process can be very daunting and takes a lot of patience. But it is well worth it and we are looking forward to an awesome retirement in what we can truly say is a place we will definitely call HOME.
