John wieland Homes
Does anyone have experience with John Wieland builders? Looking into a community in Roswell and have no clue to the builder. Any info is appreciated.

my family has not personally dealt with them, but know many who have.....have heard very good things about this builder....high quality home construction, great in-home features and upgrades, and above-average communities.....I dont know where you will be working, but "North Hampton" is a nice one in East Cobb, built in the late 90s.

JD Power recognizes them as the best builder in Atlanta. We looked at some of their places- very luxurious and very expensive (they are building townhomes in Alpharetta right now in the low 500s).
They do a 5 year warranty, which is very rare.

Though "atl" and "Blue" make good points- John Wieland Homes & Neighborhoods is a builder that is a take it or leave it. In other words- people really love a JW home and some people just hate them. They are known as a "move-up" builder- the majority of buyers are purchasing their 2-3 home. But they are still a "tract" builder, 4-6 plans per development with that cookie cutter look throughout. And although that market is small there are plenty of other builders in the metro area that compete with JW.
I have relatives that owned JW homes that were built in the mid/late '80's when JW was beginning to get a lot of attention. They liked their homes, for the time they were there. But they went through the same things that everybody else goes through when it comes to a new house.
In a nut shell- they build a good house, but...

John Wieland is a "tract" or production builder. For this reason, they are either a take it or leave it builder for people like k'ledgebldr stated. They are one of the better production builders IMO. They have a good satisfaction rate and customer service. Usually builder higher end neighborhoods.
I have no experience with JW in ATL but they are pretty popular here in North Carolina. I post on this board occassionally because I will be the trailing spouse soon when my husband is relocated to ATL this spring.

John Wieland looved Fayette county. He's already built 4 neighborhoods there with plans for a fifth. I've driven through a lot of them and they're all very nice and upscale.

John Wieland is incredible. When looking, the Wieland communities in Mableton were fantastic (Providence, etc) and my agent said Wieland is the best (they were slightly out of my range, though :-) ). Haven't seen the ones in Roswell because it was outside my target area when I was house hunting. They are usually fully-upgraded homes, though, so you're going to pay more than for the same sized home from other builders in the same neighborhood.

I am actually selling my Mays floorplan townhome (true 3 bedroom...ie, all 3 are upstairs) in Providence and have to say that I was extremely pleased with Wieland as a builder. True, they will not budge much on anything, but most mass-builders do not. Everyone who ever came to visit us commented on the "extras" that were standard in our house. PS - we are listed at $259k if you are interested...like new, only lived there 2 years. New construction of same floorplan is going for $289k+.
