I live in Los Angeles and plan to move to Atlanta as expenses in Los Angeles is becoming too much. If I move I will be moving after getting an internal transfer from my current job. As I will be working at the airport and my husband as well. I have to boys (age 11 &5 ) can some one give me some reliable advice on the below

1) renting prices comparing to Los Angeles
2) buying a house in atlanta
3) good school districts near atlanta airport
4) as I am an Asian are there any Asian communities near the airport
5) how is the crime rate comparison to Los Angeles

Please let me know.

Our Asian communities are on the NE side of town and the airport is on the other side of town. Since you both will be working at the airport you can take Marta to the airport to work. You also drive via 285 on the inner lope in the morning and the outer lope in the afternoon but I recommend taking Marta. Crime in Gwinnett County is generally low. The schools and the cost of living is generally cheap by National standards in Gwinnett County

You won't find any large Asian areas, but you'll find areas with higher numbers of Asians. For areas with a decent number of Asians with airport commute, I recommend either looking at Southern Smyrna/Vinings or central Atlanta area. For schools, the best of the two will be in Southern Smyrna and Vinings.

The area in red on the map near Vinings is the neighborhood of "Spring Hill". Orchard Rd, Ivy Walk. You'll also see a smattering of Asian population in Smyrna along East-West connector (Woodland Gate, etc) and a pretty dense Asian population in Cumberland North of I-285 along Windy Ridge near Power's Ferry. That's all on the upper-left side of the map below.

Scottdale and Clarkston also has a decent Asian population, and I'd consider it still within reach of the airport, though it's gonna be a bit long of a commute, and they are Dekalb so schools may be a problem long-term.

The center of the map is GA Tech approximately, and I'd suspect those are actually grad students, but not sure.

Buford Highway area on the edge of Gwinnett has a large Asian population, but this will be too far to commute.
