I think they miss their timing. Since they announced the project many other projects have broken ground and will be completed soon. However I think Midtown has the market for a fairly large and tall hotel of 40 story or more. I was really hoping for this project Atlanta haven't had a building 50 stories of higher since the 90's.

Projects like this generally develop near the end of a cycle when construction is cheaper. We're still in the height of this cycle.

14th St area is poised to become the densest center point of the city/metro/state/region. Already the most Manhattan-esque blocks in Atlanta, soon to be that much more so once all these new towers fill in. Going to be exciting to watch.

98 14th (3 new towers)
1163 West (tower)
1138 Peachtree (tower)
Dewberry Campanile proposal (2 new towers, plus 1 height addition)
14 st Related Group proposal (tower)

Plus the new hotel proposed for parking lot between Marriott and Four Seasons.

That may be true but this 98th project was forecasted to start months ago.

Midtown is fine with or without it.

At this rate, I see this project getting pushed to the next development cycle (if it even lasts that long).

I agree should have started last year like that had planned.

The most Manhattan-esque blocks are those around Peachtree Center.

Ok, true.

The thing with downtown though is that it hasn't added towers or much density in forever. Hoping they'll get on that.
