Is this True about people in Atlanta???
I heard that the people in Atlanta can be stuck-up, especially in Buckhead. I want to get out of Charlotte for a new start, but I don't want to be around a lot of black people that is snobbing each other.
To be honest, I think people in Charlotte is stuck-up enough.

Unfortunately it is true about a lot areas in Atlanta, like Buckhead and the areas north of the Perimeter like Dunwoody and East Cobb. The southside of Atlanta isn't stuck up but you have to worry about crime there. Downtown, Midtown, Decatur, and parts of Gwinett are more happy mediums. If you don't like stuck up people, you really wouldn't like San Diego. That city is like an Atlanta by the ocean, and minus the ghetto areas.

Living in East Cobb so no super rich people here for the most part, but I have only met a handful of snobs. Definitly not the norm. I am from 'up north' so I expected people to dislike me from the get go but that is not the case. :-)

Why do you feel that way about Charlotte? -Just curious.
I lived in Atlanta (metro) for 9 years. I prefer the traffic in Charlotte over Atlanta's. However, because Atlanta is a little more established the shopping/fashion and nightlife are better than Charlotte's.
I find the people to be a little bit more friendlier in Charlotte.
Either way, it will all ball down to the type of people you surround yourself, and whatever your interests are.
What type of things do you do in Charlotte?

I wouldnt say all people or areas are stuck up. I have mostly been in the west midtown area. I would say the majority of people here are nice, but its also not a "rich" area say like Buckhead.
I think overall Atlanta is a diverse city. There is still some southern hospitality though it is a large city.

Buckhead actually consists of stuck-up white people - I don't think that the black population of Buckhead is very large. South Dekalb is where you will find a large number of affluent African Americans, but someone else will have to tell you if they are stuck up or not.

The few black folks here that I find to be stuck up are the ones from some hick town who moved to the big city (Atlanta) and are pretending to live the luxury life(driving a luxury car, buying a 3000+ sq ft house when they are single and childless)....when in actuality they are living check to check.
Disclaimer: Not all of black Atlanta is like this.

If by "stuck up" you mean you dislike people who are "educated but not ghetto", then you'll probably dislike Atlanta. Atlanta is 2nd in the U.S. for having the highest number of blacks who graduate college (DC I believe is the first). So if educated people who are successful with their jobs to you is "snobby", you may not like parts of Atlanta. On the flipside, Atlanta certainly has it's share of "ghetto" as well, so if that's your thing, you'll find a group to fit in with easily as well.
