what i had heard was that the skyview ferris wheel was temporary— it was relocated from the gulf coast and assembled here to gauge the market.

now that it has been a great success, wasn't there supposed to be a permanent wheel, about twice the height, located elsewhere in downtown?

When I went down to the Ferris Wheel a few weeks ago, an employee at the ticket booth said they signed a contract to stay put on that property for the next 15 years, I believe. So, it looks like they are there to stay! Now, whether or not that means they will put up a bigger wheel, I don't know, but they will be staying on that property.

Whatever happens, I hope it stays. It is a great addition to downtown, despite my personal feelings of it being a ripoff. Ever since it has come in, downtown just seems more vibrant.

Do people actually line up to ride that thing? I've never seen.

Maybe Savannah should get one.

Yep. The lines get pretty long at times.

Yeah, Savannah should get one on River Street right next to the Hyatt.

I personally don't see the appeal. It's right at the edge of downtown it's not like you can see that much. But if people like it then keep it. And I do think that it looks nice from street level. Especially at night.
